I am an Apple diehard. A true fangirl. I have never had a non-apple computer. I love them.
I got my first MacBook in summer 2002, as a graduation present. It was top of the line at the time - 20gig memory, 512 ram, an ethernet connection! I was in heaven. It survived two degrees and a study abroad just fine. Then finally in 2008 I decided to upgrade to a new 200gb MacBook Pro. Finally a laptop with wireless lol! Now, I never Never had a problem with my 20gig memory in the 6 years that it was my primary computer. I did have a 120g external for backup purposes, but I kept everything on my laptop too. Now, less than two years after getting a 200g laptop, its full! FULL!
What?!
The culprit? Images. I take TONS of photos. I got my first digital camera right before I left for my study abroad in 2005. Now I have three, plus a digital video camera and an iPhone that I use as a camera just as much as a phone. I've been to Disney parks three times in 9 months. I have 13000 photos, 6000 of which are from the last year. And now that I'm getting into graphic design & digital scrapping, I have even more images for all that. Goodness.
So today, after a lot of research and much shopping around, I finally bought a new external hard drive for my baby. I had picked out Western Digital, looking at a portable 500gig drive at $100. I went to Costco to check their prices and what do they have? A 200 Terabyte drive for $149!!! Eeee! This particular one is usually in the $250 area. So I went for it. Four times the storage for an extra fifty bucks? Yes please! This thing'll last me forever! Lol all though, I did say that about the 200 gigabytes on my laptop, so we'll see I guess.
So all my research, all my pre-shopping, and I ended up with something I hadn't even considered. Go figure.
Now I just have to decide how I'm going to set it up. I'm thinking partitions, Time Machine.... We'll see.
Totally geeking out,
K
